Symposium

Symposium makes it easy for teachers to orchestrate exciting student activities that really help them in acquiring language fluency skills.

Teachers really seem to appreciate Symposium's Walk-In & Teach technology, which empowers teachers to come into the classroom on the first day of class and immediately begin teaching with their existing program materials. No special formatting. No extra work. Just Walk-In & Teach!

LogoLAB

LogoLAB is a new digital language lab system designed specifically for self-study environments. With LogoLAB, teachers create multimedia exercises using authentic language materials. Students tackle assignments from any campus PC – at any time. LogoLAB tracks student progress, and enables teachers to review student progress at their convenience.

Flexible Content Options

Since a teacher's time is a precious commodity, LogoLAB makes it easy to build new student exercises. LogoLAB provides a great deal of flexibility for importing digital documents and for re-purposing existing analog content (e.g. audiocassette tape libraries or VHS tape libraries).

Powerful Pedagogical Tools

With LogoLAB, teachers are able to easily build simple, yet pedagogically sound, learning exercises that work with student Virtual Recorders.

Exercise materials include audio files, video files, images, and text files. Multiple files can be linked, (e.g. audio and text), so that for example, the teacher can include a list of text questions as part of a listening comprehension exercise.

Assigning Exercises

Teachers have the flexibility to assign exercises to individual students, to a group of students, or to the entire class.

This makes it simple to work with learners having different skill sets or particular language deficiencies, so that all students are fully challenged.

Teachers place exercises into each student's personal workspace, from which the student can remotely access their assignments.

LogoLAB's built-in messaging system enables teachers to advise students when new assignments are available.

Tracking Student Progress

At any time, teachers can login to LogoLAB and review student progress on all assignments. LogoLAB identifies which assignments have been completed and how much time students have spent in doing the work.

Teachers just click on exercise icons to review student oral and written responses.

SmartClass Virtual Recorder

SCVR is a new language-learning tool that enables instructors to harness the power of digital audio/visual content in their lessons in a simple and straightforward manner.

SCVR stimulates students with exciting lessons using video and audio content, and motivates them to interact by recording audio responses.

In such an environment, students learn more quickly and better retain what they have learned.

Students can use SCVR Player for playing their favorite digital audio or multimedia clips, including WAV, MP3, AU, SND, MPEG, MPG, AVI, QT and MOV files, and for recording their own voice-overs on these files.

The Player uses a combination of standard tape transport style controls and digital bookmarks to enable rapid navigation and review of materials.

The SCVR Lesson Editor enables instructors to build powerful interactive language lessons that schedule both the delivery of presentation materials, (digital audio and video clips), and the time reserved for student responses. Instructors can create virtually any type of learning exercise, including:

Pronunciation Drills Transcription
Grammar Drills Translation
Vocabulary Drills Reading Aloud
Listening Comprehension Group Exercises & Testing

Optional digitizing tools are also available to facilitate the re-purposing of existing analog audio or video tape libraries.
