In today’s diverse classrooms, multilingual learners (MLs) must develop strong academic language skills to fully access grade-level content in core subjects such as Math, Science, Social Studies, and English Language Arts. This recorded webinar, "Leveraging the Versatility of SmartClass to Support Academic Language Acquisition," equips educators with the tools and strategies needed to effectively support MLs through differentiated instruction and targeted scaffolding.
Participants will explore how the SmartClass instructional platform fosters language development by integrating interactive listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities into daily instruction. Through hands-on demonstrations, educators will engage with AI-guided conversations, auto-graded pronunciation exercises, and structured writing support, all designed to build students’ confidence and proficiency in academic English.
This session emphasizes the critical role of general education teachers in frontloading academic language, providing necessary scaffolds, and ensuring that MLs have equitable access to content at their corresponding grade level. Educators will learn best practices for using SmartClass to create an inclusive learning environment where MLs can thrive, engage with rigorous curriculum, and develop the language skills needed for long-term academic success.
